Refund policy

This policy covers payments made on renew.nysvms.org and pay.nysvms.org: membership dues, Champion Practice invoices, and contributions to the NYSVMS Political Education Committee (PEC/VPEC).

Mistakes are always put right

We will refund in full, whenever you tell us:

• a payment taken twice for the same dues or invoice;
• any amount charged above what you owed (we refund the difference);
• a charge you did not make or authorize.

Membership dues

• If you change your mind, ask within 30 days of paying and before your membership year begins on January 1, and we will refund your dues in full.
• After that, dues are not refundable. Your membership and its benefits continue to the end of the membership year.
• Regional chapter dues follow the same rule as state dues.

Champion Practice invoices

• If someone on your invoice leaves the practice before January 1, let us know. We will move their membership to a new colleague at the practice or refund that person’s dues, whichever you prefer.
• From January 1 onwards, memberships are not refundable, but you can ask us to transfer one to a new colleague at the practice.

PEC and VPEC contributions

Political contributions are refunded if they were made in error and you ask within 30 days, or whenever the law requires a refund.

How refunds are made

• Ask by email to staff@nysvms.org or by phone at (518) 869-7867, with the payment reference from your receipt if you have it.
• Approved refunds go back to the card that was charged, within 10 business days of approval. Your bank may take a further 5 to 10 business days to show it on your statement.
• We do not charge a fee for refunds.
• When dues are refunded, the membership they paid for ends, and any receipt or tax statement for that payment no longer applies.
• If you have a problem with a payment, please contact us before disputing it with your card company. We can usually fix it the same day.
